Webster Street was named after Daniel Webster, who was an investor in the East Boston Company  of Massachusetts.  The East Boston company purchased acres of white oak on Grand Island. While visiting North Tonawanda, Webster stayed in the White Mansion, also known as Beechwater, on Tonawanda Island. The Mansion was the home of Stephen White who represented the company. Stephen's daughter, Caroline, married Daniel's son, Fletcher.
