The Ruggles Family

Gertrude M. Ruggles, from the 1931 North Star yearbook, earned an Honor Letter in 1928, 1929, 1930, and 1931.  She was a member of the Student Government Committee and the Second Annual Band Concert in 1931.  A harpist, she eventually owned a Wurlitzer concert pedal harp and was employed by the Wurlitzer Company in the office for 47 years.  She passed away in 2005 at the age of 92.  She had been born August 17, 1913, in Van Buren County, Michigan. 

Thomas Ruggles at work voicing a pipe organ at the Wurlitzer Company.  Thomas was Gertrude's father.  He was born in South Haven, England, and was described as an organ maker when he arrived in the United States.  Date unknown.
